PU's new Centurion |
|
Sorry I neglected to post shots here during the development. Too late; it's done, model-wise:
Never mind that rectangular hatch. I though I saw something there in some of the pics, so I figured might as well throw something into the mesh to appease the boredom.
Rather simplistic, minimalistic... Well, had to be, because even so it weights almost 12 thousand triangles. Just the fact that the shape is made up of so many roundish blobs, and that leaving roundish blobs interpenetrating making sharp seams doesn't look right, so I smooth-welded them all. Smooth-welds take a lot of geometry; let me tell 'ya --not to speak of the amount of work...
Phlogios has pledged to do the unwrap and texturing.
I'm getting back to work on the new mining base...

The Centurion is a sexy beast. Any plans to use the hatch on the bottom for something? Or are you just leaving it as is?

Wow, I never really thought about it before, but I can't think of a single spot where landing gear would make sense on this thing. I mean, I guess something could come out of the belly on the bottom, but whatever did would have to go quite far to pass the engines, and it would be ridiculously unstable.
What does it do when it lands, shove it's head in the dirt?

Huh, I guess that's the best they could do with the design. Seems that owning a Centurion isn't for anal retentive types who can't handle scratches.
