Haha, awesome! I remember you asking about it a few months ago. Glad to see he got it up and running again. Although I still don't know what happened to it in the first place.

It was particularly troublesome for me, because I used its Communications as a "canonical source" for my 2669 timeline. But I remembered having to tweak the dates a little bit... not by much; just a day or two, here and there...; and I've been recently forseeing the need to take a hard look at my timeline again, but without the source, I'd be very worried about changing anything any further.

Thanks, It's good to know someone notices if i'm missing weeks in a row. Most people in my life don't care if i am absent or not, so it's nice for a change.
I am busy with RL issues such as re-registering for school. Start Y11 next year. Have family around who use the internet and computer most the time, so that limits the amount i can go on. I have limited my time at WC Junction until i get this bloody campaign finished. I should never have started it. I was stopped because of school and each time i restart it sounds dis-jointed.
The problems in my life limit the what i can do, so i'm let wondering why i live life. Why some people seem to enjoy life.
So that's my little off-topic rant for today, so, being on topic...
I can never enter Fleet Tactics since it's been up.

Apparently they took it out again. "Website disabled", whatever that means. That's not a 404, though; it's a deliberate taking of it out.
Don't feel so bad, Master Chief; when you're young life is a bitch, because most adults are terribly disrespectful and disconsiderate of the needs of the young. Many youngsters don't know the meaning of privacy until they leave home. Well, in the movies and television, everybody lives in big houses where each kid has their own room upstairs. In the real world many families live in apartments, tiny bungalows or whatever, and few can afford a computer for each kid. Maybe you could try to negotiate to get some money to spend on computer time at an internet cafe, where you can be alone and undistracted for an hour or two at a stretch.

I don't know if it's just the season or what, but it seems everyone has been taking extended breaks lately. Especially me, I've just got the internet set up at my new place after a month or so of downtime and I'm still trying to find time to actually sit back down and work on the site.
And of course Christmas is next week, so it's not looking good. :-\
(BTW, After you move out of your parent's house, Christmas sucks the big one.)

I did a bit of work, mostly commenting out broken links. All those red links we had are now between comment marks and don't show via html, except in the maps section; a lot of work to comment those out without breaking the table structure. And then I re-sitemapped everything. Images are still not coming up in Google, not sure why. Work on book quotations continues. What I'd like to get back to working on soon is the ship size classes; but I think the maps will have to come first, as Paladin offered help with them and I don't want to waste the opportunity. I need to do some more research to nail down a proper table format for sectors, quadrants and systems...

How true. It is, and i wish i could improve it, which i can to a certain extent, but i can't change the way people act, sadly.

yeah, i find that every day at work. Most people look down at you (me, anyone) and are generally disrespectful to you when they are generally nice to most other people. They aslo tend to think they can rip you off.

Hmmm, i live in the country and the local library won't allow me in as i was seen with someone that has a bad reputation. When i was doing my work expirence at the hospital i would have liked to have gone the the libarary next door, but as it was not fully open at the time i couldn't. But, now it's open and i'm looking into getting work as a orderly there i may just be able to go to the library after i finish for the day. I hope to get work there. Thanks to my work expirence it is likely i will be accepted. The lady who you have to apply to knows me and she has said that if i apply she most likely employ me.
But this is off-topic.

The people who run it seem bent on giving wc a bad name. I wish that they would stop trashing the name and just quitly get on with their life.

Actually, you can; but it takes a lot of courage and a willingness to raise the stakes a few notches. Say an adult in a position of power; an older member of family or an employer, makes a gesture suggesting he could slap you, or raises his voice unjustifiably, you could call police, state that you feel threatened, even if the gesture was veiled or non-verbal (legally it doesn't matter, in most countries), require the police (at least here they cannot refuse to) file a report; say to them without uncertainty that you want to press criminal charges; and then take the offender to civil court, and claim damages (visit a psychiatrist to get a bill to show) for good measure. It wouldn't take very long for the word to get around and gain you a good deal of respect. You mention, for example, that you are not allowed in the library because you were seen with the wrong person. I don't believe they have a right to do that; --judge you and convict you on the basis of such flimsy, circumstantial evidence. You have the right to avail yourself of all legal means necessary to show them that they are in the wrong side of the law and of ethics; and doing so would make them think twice the next time. If nothing else works, or even in addition, you could speak to a media reporter to get public attention. Etceteras.
What happens is that all adults were young at one point in time, and they suffered all kinds of injustice themselves. What did they do about it? Nothing. They waited. They chickened. And for the rest of their lives they can't live with the knowledge that they were cowards. So they pick on the new generation to prove to themselves how brave they are. But they are still cowards, and if you fight back they chicken away. I always fought back, and so I don't have their problem and don't need to pick on young people. Since age 14 or so, whenever an adult hit me I hit back twice as hard. Ask my father, who had never, ever hit me, until one day (I was 15 or 16) he did, in the car; and I punched him so hard his head hit and bounced off the side window, bounced off my fist a second time, and hit the window a second time. He never tried that again... This is not a solution I'm recommending; --where I grew up you didn't call police over such matters (only robberies and murders)... macho society... people were expected to defend themselves. In your part of the world and and in present days, involving authorities probably would be the right way to go in most situations. Just illustrating my background a bit. I never looked for trouble, but when trouble came my way I faced it, and very rarely lost a fight... (well, I did take martial arts courses, starting with Judo at age 7...).

Don't try my previous advice on customers of your employer... --it could get you justifiably fired; but you can still learn to become pretty assertive without showing disrespect. Assertiveness courses and books are often pretty good to take/read.

The people who run it seem bent on giving wc a bad name. I wish that they would stop trashing the name and just quietly get on with their life. | Doubt they have one life amongst them all. Anyways, there's no question in my mind they took it out after seeing this thread, to see if I would put up a mirror of the site like I said I would. I'll email you a link for now; and check with my lawyer first, before I proceed with any mirroring.

I don't know, maybe they're just changing some things to it. I don't see why they would feel the need to "test you" on whether or not you were serious about mirroring. Seems pretty childish.
Then again...

I think there is something going on. At least some things will be changed but I can't say what because I don't know it myself. I was just told that there will be changes.

Odd that they brought it back up before deciding to make those changes. Maybe it was just a "test run".

Well I still get a "Website deactivated". I haven't noticed that it was only anytime since I noticed that it went offline....and that was quite some time ago.

Dear Monkhouse,
I've recently visited the Fleet Tactics site (as of 8/26/08) and it's still offline--any chance you could re-establish the site? :P
Many thanks.
Warm regards,
Relentless

Well, someone wants it back. I would not mind seeing it again. It's easy interface was good for comparing ships, weapons, and looking at communications.
But really, finish WCwiki and but all that in there and make the wiki easy to use.
